"Acclaimed author-illustrator Melanie Watt introduces us to an incredible animal: the capybara! We've all heard of capybaras, we all love capybaras, but how much do we know about them, really? Dive into this fact-packed picture book and uncover the secrets -- some cute, some curious, some... not so much -- of these lovable oversized rodents. For as fascinating as these animals are, there's one extra-shocking fact that this capybara does NOT want you to know! Will the truth come out in the end? Funny and irreverent, this new picture book from the creator of Chester and Scaredy Squirrel teaches some very interesting animal facts and will have readers laughing the whole way through."--

In just the right order, they plant mahtmin (corn), pîmiciwacis (beans), and osawipak (squash) for Three Sisters Soup. They plant strawberries to serve with bannock, then zucchini, tomatoes, cucumbers. Benjamin and his mom lovingly tend to the garden and watch it grow into a plentiful harvest with enough to share. Throughout the whole summer, Benjamin dreams about the fall, when they'll have all the ingredients for a feast -- and everyone will be invited!"--

"The forest is full of dangerous creatures, but there's one so treacherous, so destructive, so annoying, that Bigfoot fears them above all else: CAMPERS! They wreck rock collections, pee on plants, contaminate water and worst of all ... won't stop taking photos. But when one lost little camper arrives in his backyard, Bigfoot realizes that these loud, messy, smelly creatures may not be that bad, and sometimes it's okay to step outside your comfort zone to make a friend. A cheery, fresh take on the traditional Bigfoot tale that explores first impressions and being open to new experiences."--

It's time for the Scintillating Science Symposium, and Mo is determined to win this year's competition. He knows his classmates are talented, but none of them are serious scientists like him... especially not Muriel. After all, Mo wants to be a chemist when he grows up; Muriel wants to be a cat. Besides, Mo has the best idea to turn something small into something big. He just can't forget his secret ingredient... As the day of the Symposium arrives, readers will love discovering the scientific surprises behind the Sunnysill Elementary students' projects, from lemon meringue pie to boogers. Ana Stretcu's energetic and charming artwork further emphasizes how fun STEAM can be and how creativity can help answer big questions--in the classroom and beyond.

Greedy woodpecker won't share the delicious seeds in the bird feeder with the other birds. They are always chased away and left to find seeds that have fallen to the ground. Chickadee comes up with a plan and gets woodpecker to chase him away again -- but this time the chase will go longer and farther away. When Woodpecker realizes he has become lost he understands he should have been kinder and offered to share. And when he finally gets back to the bird feeder, the chickadee, finches, and nuthatches welcome him to share the yummy seeds with them.

A bear, a moose and a beaver decide they're finally going to go camping, and they find the perfect spot right next to a lake. The moose has brought along a camping guide with tips such as: make sure your tent poles and guidelines are securely tied; never leave a campfire unattended; and keep your food packed away in a secure container ... none of which they follow! Who would want to work when there is fun to be had? Naturally, one thing after another goes wrong, so, naturally, they start blaming each other. Lucky for them, though, the wild is a great place to be reminded of the most important thing of all: Everything is better when they work together!

She likes things to happen on time and when she expects them. She likes order in her city life, her classroom, and at home with her family. When life is predictable, it is perfect. Then one day her father says that he has planned a weekend camping trip for their family. Camping? Oh no! Camping means messes and mishaps. Camping means chaos and calamity. No, no, no, Dad, warns Cammie. Camping is a terrible idea! But her father doesn't change his mind and off they go. And sure enough, camping is chaos. There are trees with roots that trip, pesky biting mosquitoes, and campfire smoke that blows in one's face. Cammie wants to go home. But, as it turns out, Mother Nature has her own set of rhythms and routines, from sunrises and sunsets to ocean tides rolling in and out. There are calming nighttime sounds and reassuring orderly patterns in the night sky. Will Cammie find out that perhaps camping isn't as terrible as she expected?"--

"A feisty young girl named Fiona stumbles upon an old house, the middle of three abandoned mansions, full of stray (and runaway) cats (and two budgies). Naming it the City of Lost Cats, Fiona feels a great deal of sympathy for the animals; she understands wanting to run away. Ever since her parents died, she's been struggling to adjust to the new, smaller apartment she and her older sister, Tannis, now live in. Tannis has even less time to spare for Fiona, as her job at City Hall has her working more hours than ever. Cot (short for Cottonball Fluffikins Magnificent III, but he refused to answer to that name when he lived with his family) has lived in the house for two years and is the self-proclaimed leader of the cats. But lately, he's been worried about a challenge to his leadership. When a giant excavator rolls up to the houses, it's going to take some quick thinking on the part of Fiona, not to mention the cooperation of all the cats to give The City a future"--

Des is the kid everyone overlooks, even as he longs for some recognition. He doesn't stand out in any particular way -- except one: He's a "super-recognizer," someone who never forgets a face. It's a talent not even he values. But Des wants to change the game. So he comes up with a plan to use his superpower to help his mom's detective squad ID the members of a crime ring that are looking to make off with some valuable items at a comic convention. Instead, he meets Cosmo, who has a power of their own. Can Des's power help Cosmo before spies, police and an international comics empire co-opt Cosmo's power? A twisty story with fantastic page-turning plot points that also delivers a universal message about recognizing the strengths of your true self.

Surviving on the streets of World War II London alone certainly hasn't been easy, but Nimble Nottingham has perfected the art of going it alone--and that's just how he likes it. The only friend he needs is his beloved dog, Winnie. To pass the time between rolling blackouts and bombs falling through the air, Nim spends his days fence-climbing, roof-jumping, and gargoyle-perching...that is when he's not scrounging for food to stave off the ever-present hunger the war has brought to London. So when opportunity strikes in the form of a bomb falling onto the notoriously creepy Gravenhurst Manor, Nim knows he has to get inside and find whatever spoils he can get his hands on to sell for food. Get in. Get out. Quick as a flash. At least, that was the plan until Mouse--a member of a local street gang called the Dead End Kids--shows up and invites himself along for the heist. Inside, Mouse and Nim encounter far more than just crumbling walls and shattered windows. Beneath Gravenhurst Manor lies a secret room and inside that room is a locked safe. Nim, inspired by the Hardy Boys adventures he used to read at Waifs and Strays orphanage, knows that something this protected has to be valuable, and so he cracks the safe and unknowingly unleashes a monster. A shadow creature is now loose on the streets of London, and it's up to Nim, Mouse, and a band of unattended children to end its reign of terror.
